Lauretta's Eyes

This is Lauretta, a captive female marsican bear. The wardens found her when, still just a cub, she got separated from her mother and could never be reintroduced into the wild. She is now 22. Only about 50 of this beautiful bears survive free and only in the italian Central Appenine. I made a point to myself of never get intentionally close and photograph this species into the wild to avoid even the slightest chance of disturbance.
